ABOUT THE ARTIST
Robert Weil was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He has lived in New Orleans, San Francisco, Portland and Los Angeles, he currently resides in La Quinta, California. He studied at The Art Institute in San Francisco and Santa Barbara with abstract artist, Kenneth Nack. Weil has produced artwork in his studio using lithography, silk screen, etching, monotype, offset lithography, computer graphics, film and digital photography, and acrylic painting. “I am an image junky, always amused by people, places, and existing imagery. I paint from old photographs, original drawings, stills from home movies, video grabs, and photography. I enjoy scanning images and digitally playing with them on my computer. I then paint many of my final images on wood, canvas, or metal using acrylic paint and a variety of media. I often paint freehand with an airbrush, without the use of masking materials. This creates a soft feathered-edge effect.”
