Mark Braver was born in 1958 in Riga, Latvia. His early artistic passion had to be set aside when he was drafted into the Red Army. After his military service, he got married and started a family. However, his involvement in Zionist activities led to his arrest and a five-year imprisonment in a Soviet prison. During this time, he developed a strong resolve to dedicate his life to art and culture.
Upon his release, Braver found that societal attitudes towards individualism and the arts had become more favorable. Encouraged by his artist friends, he resumed painting with renewed vigor. In 2000, he and his family immigrated to Israel, where he continued to create his vibrant, textured artworks. His compositions are known for their vivid colors and unique layering techniques, making his works highly sought after by collectors in the United States, Europe, and Israel.
